Volunteer Opportunities

Bread for the World  - members write personal letters and send other personalized communications to their representatives in Congress.
Working through churches, campuses, and other organizations, we engage more people in advocacy. Each year, Bread for the World invites churches and groups across the country to take up an Offering of Letters to Congress on an issue important to hungry people.
People place these letters in the offering plates during church services, prayerfully offering them to God before sending them to Congress. For many, it is their first time communicating with their members of Congress.
This outpouring of concern sends a powerful message to our political leaders and helps us move closer to our goal of ending hunger.  For more information click here.

Regional Assembly is September 9-11 this year at Central Christian Church, more information will be posted here.

Habitat for Humanity

Several have asked “What will this year’s Habitat for Humanity home look like?”  “Where will it be built?”  “What is our partner family like?”  All are good questions from members who care about our Habitat program.
This year’s home will be “A Home Like No Other”. Yes, our 27th sponsored home will look different and we will be releasing all the specifics once they are fully developed and confirmed by Lexington Habitat for Humanity.  Sorry, no scoop printed here!
In the meantime, let’s consider how individually we can make the difference in our Habitat for Humanity ministry.  Last Sunday was our first offering opportunity at Central.  Our children brought their Habitat banks to the Children’s Sermon, we heard from India Mock, last year’s partner family about how her family’s life has changed and many of us remembered to bring our checks and volunteer cards to put them in the offering plate.
This Sunday, February 28th will be our final offering for Habitat for Humanity.  It is an opportunity for the rest of us to personally participate in the purchase of the building materials so that a new partner family, with the help of our volunteers, will be able build a way out of substandard poverty housing.  We still have time to raise the needed funds and make it happen.  If you cannot come to worship this Sunday, you may mail in your check and volunteer card in the provided envelope.  This year’s Habitat for Humanity project will be “A Home Like No Other” because you chose to make a difference!
