Facilities

The heart of our congregational life at Central is our historic Sanctuary built in 1894 located at the corner of East Short Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.  Due our current building campaign, to be finished Fall 2008, this facility is under renovation and expansion.  When complete, located in that building will also be: the Children and Youth Education Wing (including nursery and toddler rooms, and Children's Worship Sanctuary), a renovated Fellowship Hall, the Chapel, an expanded Library, Evans Music Room, new Adult Education rooms, offices for the Central Music Academy, attractive entrance and gathering spaces including a renovated Parlor, and the Office of Pastoral Counselor Dr. Ray Holdren.

The administrative offices are housed on the second floor in the Watkins Building at 219 East Short Street.  Also, located in the Watkins building on the first floor are Adult Church School Class Rooms, the Parish Nurse office, God's Pantry, a Thrift Store and a Cafeteria (Short Street Cafe) open for breakfast and lunch on Monday - Friday.  During our renovation, we also use the Watkins Building for KidSing/TeenSing rehearsals, nursery and toddler space, Children's Worship & Wonder, choir rehearsal and a variety of other activities and meetings that will otherwise occur in the Sanctuary Building, when updating and outfitting are complete.
